live streaming from multiple sources

Postby b.bettle » Mon Jul 25, 2011 8:35 am

Gday People,
Just started working on Unreal Umedia and Ulive server. I need to be able to stream live from multiple (say2) locations unto various locations within a network. not going across the WAN at all.
Now, without using Streaming Media Player, (and I have next to nothing web skills), how can I create the webpage so that i can have links to directly open multiple sources. If there is any other method besides http, suggestions would be highly appreciated.
On the same note, is it possible to have (say both sources) streaming and playing live using flash player on same page at a same time?

Thanks

Download the SDK package from
http://www.umediaserver.net/umediaserver/source.html - there are samples there.

Hi admin,
thanks for your reply. i will try it shortly.
On the same note, I have come across another issue. I have a computer that has uliveserver and another computer with umediaserver. I am using a sony handycam. Using Unreal streaming mediaplayer, I can view live stream on the computer that has umediaserver, but cant view anything on other computers. i always get "Media Server does not respond". What could be the issue?

Thank you

Ports blocked by firewall. Please don't ask any more questions like that, which you can easily get answers searching the forums.

Admin is right. Visit the old forum too. He's just tired of answering the same question, when it's all here to be found in the forums and in the sdk (ie. http://umediaserver.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4562 or this http://umediaserver.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4975) . Look at the sdk and you'll learn some html. The pages are already made for you, you just put in the alias' and the source address. They insert an example of the test.avi. Follow that and insert your own vids or live sources. There's even a page example with two embedded live sources (or media sources) that can be converted to 4 I think I recall. You don't need web design software, just notepad to change the root index's html codes. I have maybe a dozen different web pages that can be accessed from anywhere in the world hosting everything from home movies to live sources.

I use apache for my web server, but there are examples of how to use IIS too, all will require opening your firewall to ports 5119 (media server), 5120 (live server) and 80 (web server). I rarely use streaming media player, but installing that is a good way to get the plugins installed.

Don't be talking smack on Admin. He's helped us all immensely.
