How to access html5 player poster (thumbnail) to be set as p

Postby goodyes » Tue Jan 22, 2019 3:48 am

Hello,
I want to get a thumbnail of the video , to be used for say fb share image
if I use or programmatically add:
<meta property="og:image" content="here_I_need_a_thumbnail_of_video">

If I set the above content to $("Player1_Video").src once video is properly loaded, then I can set the above meta tad dynamically,like :

<head>
..
<meta name="og:image" content="blob:https://s.vid.eus/4547a33a-8405-4ec3-9ea6-3b225c8d6122">
..
</head>

Problem is that if I navigate to: blob:https://s.vid.eus/4547a33a-8405-4ec3-9ea6-3b225c8d6122
there's nothing, file was not found. If I navigate to: https://s.vid.eus/4547a33a-8405-4ec3-9ea6-3b225c8d6122 there's no file.

So, what about the poster src ?, it is created and stored somewhere ? if not, how it works toproperly use it ?

You need to use video.poster
https://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_video_poster.asp

but you cannot really extract a video frame from the actual stream as the poster.
You can try

your html5 player seems to create a poster:(but I didnt see stored)

<unrealhtml5videoplayer id="Player1" style="width: 720px; position: relative;"><video id="Player1_Video" width="720" height="1093px" style="background-color: black" poster="" src="blob:https://s.vid.eus/4534cb44-7ede-461e-aff7-9dbbf7412b96"></video><div id="Player1_videoControl ..</unrealhtml5videoplayer>

What it is: src="blob:https://s.vid.eus/4534cb44-7ede-461e-aff7-9dbbf7412b96"> as it is created from your code after RunPlayer();

src="blob......
is automatically created by Media Source Extensions (MSE); you cannot change it.
