Audio Quality Issues

Postby woodsrl » Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:05 am

I am encoding a stream using Live Server. I have found that the encoding quality seems below par for AAC. I have found that I have to encode at 128Kb before I get the same quality that I am currently getting from 64Kb using Orban's Opticodec-PC. I am trying to build a solution for us to be included in iHeart radio, and they do not allow higher than 64Kb into their system.

Thanks,
RW

Opticodec uses High-Efficiency AAC encoding, while Unreal Live Server uses Low Complexity AAC encoding. Hence the quality difference.
For most reliability, computer-based encoding is not ideal; hardware RTSP encoders such as Opticodec 7600 are highly recommended.
If you have a chance to test it with Unreal Media Server, please drop couple of lines here so that we can add it to our supported hardware list.
