LiveServer will not start recording...

Postby mike » Tue Feb 05, 2013 12:13 pm

Windows 7 Liveserver 8.. We cannot start manual recording (or any recording even through the .dll. All configurations are correct. Correct user accounts, ec.. Reloaded Liveserver. Just can't seem to get this one box to start recording... We can preview the stream, all seems to work fine except we can't record...

What encoding are you using, what is the video/audio source?
Manual recording command in Live Config doesn't work?

Using an older Osprey card (I think like 210 or 220?) wma and VC1 (wmv). It previews the stream fine... connects to UMediaServer, etc.. everything but record. We have stopped any programs using the recording .dll just in case but still no go. Manual recording option in ULiveServer does not start recording. No errors it just doesn't start.

Its possible (need to check it out again and test) but if the recording is set to start when the system boots up it works... Its a remote server so may be a bit before we can try that..

You simply miss Windows Media Runtime on this machine which is required for recording WMV/WMA content.
Installing Windows Media Player is the simplest solution.

Windows 7 comes with Media Player but just to be sure checked this installation and Media Player runs fine. Still will not record. If I update the media source under the video params I can preview the video. If I manual start recording nothing shows in the recording tab and no files are created. However if I go back into update->video params and try to preview the video it says it is in use.. but still not being recorded. Rechecked configuration for Recording folders, etc..

Uninstalled ULiveServer and reinstalled same problem...

Could this be some kind of permissions settings? Even tried to set the recording to an external drive still won't record...

Is your system 32-bit or 64-bit?
You need Windows Media Format runtime 32-bit, since Live Server is 32-bit app.

OK.. Got it! So strange.. for some reason the the default size capture was being set to 640x-480. Would never have found this except we tried to stream flash H264 (or whatever it is) and if gripped about 640x-480. Sure enough the default size in the capture for the Osprey was 640x-480 instead of 640x480. Under a completely new install the default set through ULiveServer is 640x-480..

This may be something to do with the settings left over in an install by the Osprey software...

Tks, Mike

or whatever it is

That's the best comment I can provide, since I didn't understand nothing. How can a size be "640x-480"?

Anyway, whatever you found, you found it!
