Prolem With Unreal Flash Player

Issues related to playing with Flash Player

Not sure if it is related, but when right clicking on my Live broadcast in UMS --> Start MS Smooth Streaming....I get "UserverConfig - Error" "Stream contains unsupported Media Type. MS Smooth Streaming only supports H.264/AAC or VC1/WMA.

My goal is to provide the stream via RTMP for the FlashPlayer, however in testing I noticed this and wondered if this is related to why I am seeing the black output in the FlashPlayer.

Hey, this device does not support H.264 compression. This is the reason for the behavior you observe.
In fact, Flash player should display "Video encoding not supported by Flash"; I am really surprised this is not the case.
This device only supports MJPEG and MPEG-4 compression; Flash needs H.264.

You can feed the MJPEG stream from this unit to our UAxisVideo DirectShow source filter, running with Unreal Live Server. Then you can transcode the stream to H.264 and achieve your goal.
Note that Axis has their own DirectShow source filter, similar to UAxisVideo; you can try that as well.

I only have remote (web access) to the device.
Can I still run Unreal Live Server against the device?

Of course. You run ULiveServer on the computer where you are able to run their web view and monitor MJPEG stream.
You configure UAxisVideo to receive this stream.

The odd thing is I could see my feed in Streaming Media Player without problems.
Where do I put the URL to my source for the MJPEG in the ULiveServer?
Is that in the Initialization String?

Why, Unreal Media Player does support MPEG-4, and mpeg4 decoder comes with Windows.
Actually, the solution you have right now, is much cleaner: you upload RTSP stream directly to Media Server; there is no transcoding, users veiw original hardware-encoded video.
If your user-base is on Windows OS, I really recommend to stick with Unreal Media Player; if they are on the same LAN, you could use multicast as well.
You can embed Unreal Media Player to web page; all browsers are supported.

Now, to your actual question: Read readme file for UAxisVideo; yes, connection parameters are in the Init string.

I attempted to create a new live source with the init string formatted like below (IP omitted of course)
UAXIS://IP=<MYIP>&Port=80&Comp=-1&fps=8&size=big
How do I determine which port to use?
I am basing my string on the contents of the readme.
To play the data in VLC for my stream, you can do one of the following (I'm unsure how this maps to Live Media Server).

RTSP = rtsp://<USER>:<PASS>@<MYIP>/mpeg4/1/media.amp

HTTP/MJPG = http://<USER>:<PASS>@<MYIP>/axis-cgi/jpg/image.cgi?resolution=CIF

How do the above translate into what I need to do for Live Media Server?
It lets me create the media source, but Preview the Live Source does not bring anything up in the Streaming Media Player.

Hey, I just realized that plain UAxisVideo does not support this quad-core encoder; it only supports a single channel camera.

We did develop a special version for this device in the past, for army requests. Let me check if we still have it :) and I will email it to you.
