Streaming RTSP to web browsers via HLS

Postby azurtem » Wed Sep 21, 2016 12:04 pm

Hi

I recently changed servers and unfortunately forgot to migrate my UMS and Apache settings
So it feels a little like starting from scratch again

I have an RTSP stream from my client's web camera (H.264) broadcasted anonymously with UMS over HLS

My iPhone can play the m3u8 file located in the server's HLS subdirectory
The web server and UMS are both on the same server box

I'm using your existing sample file ("HLS live stream from Unreal Media Server, viewable on any OS / device.")
to test the display of the livre stream

All I've changed is the following line:
<source type="application/x-mpegURL" src="http://51.254.113.86/hls/ruches.m3u8" />

On a remote EDGE browser it works, but on FF, Chrome or IE, I get the following error:

flash: Video file not found
We are sorry, currently no live stream available.
Adobe Flash is disabled for this page, click player area to enable

I'm stumped; I religiously followed the instructions in the FAQ on setting up HLS
added the two mime types, activated expire module, ...
I've perused the entries in the forum about HLS

But I just can't get it to work

Incidently I had to install FFDSHOW (32bit) on the server or else th stream wouldn't play on remote EDGE browsers

Any ideas ? Pointers ?

thanks
yann

I forgot to mention that the rtmp broadcast using your sample file also works with all remote browsers

Just to be complete:

The HLS web folder URL and path:
http://51.254.113.86/hls

Did you copy crossdomain.xml to your webserver?

Ok situation sorted
The crossdomain file had been placed in hls instead of the root (htdocs)
Please delete all the entries for this post
thank you
