Alias of the live source is not recognized by media server

Postby spirit986 » Mon May 27, 2013 6:39 am

Hi to all,

We have installed Unreal Media Server for testing purposes before purchasing a licence.
So far we've managed to play mms wmv links and embed a wmv video on the website.

However we've encountered a problem while trying to embed rtml flash player links with the same error message on the subject
"Alias of the live source is not recognized by media server"

I was using the examples from your demo page here:
http://www.umediaserver.net/umediaserver/demos.html

This video as the example:
http://www.umediaserver.net/umediaserve ... shDSL.html

And my code was:
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="player-container" name="player-container" data="http://www.umediaserver.net/bin/FlashPlayer/player-quick.swf" width="452" height="240" style="visibility: visible;"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain"><param name="bgcolor" value="transparent"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><param name="flashvars" value="rtmp=rtmp://192.168.5.40:5119/TestMediaRoot/NextGenTechnology.mp4"></object>

I am asking what could be wrong here? Perhaps i should install more video codecs on my server?

Thank you for the assistance

You are missing a "vod" keyword in your RTMP link.
When playing files, you must have "vod" there; when playing live streams, you must have "live" there.

http://www.umediaserver.net/umediaserver/install.html

So, your link should be:
rtmp://192.168.5.40:5119/vod/TestMediaR ... nology.mp4

Thank you very much for the reply that solved my problem.
Now I did notice that there is /vod/ and /live/ in the links depending on the type of the stream.
