Problems with Archival Server

Force Archive without Player

Postby tom.barrett » Fri Jan 06, 2012 9:42 am

I have Live server, Media Server and Archive server all running. Works great. Is there any way to force the archive server to record the entire Live broadcast EVEN in there is no one watching the stream? Currently, It looks like it only records while the stream is being played out on a client player.

Sure there are couple of ways.

You can just start recording manually using Archival config;
you can also issue programmatic command - refer to our SDK.

Yeah, I knew I could do it manually but that won't work for the application we are planning. --We plan to distribute free laptops to local high schools so they can broadcast their sporting events on a server we host for them at no cost. I can't really give them access to the archive server to start and stop it. Sounds like issuing a command would be the better method for us. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer and my company doesn't have one on staff either. I just have no idea what to do with the contents of that SDK.

Looks like you need a web app for them, allowing them to click on a button to start/stop recording.

Have you considered our uVMS, that does exactly that?
