Data area too small error.

Problems with Unreal Media Server

Data area too small error.

Postby jbeardon » Sun Mar 01, 2015 5:43 am

I am trying to get UMS to serve rtsp streams from my CCTV DVR. Publishing point has been created with an rtsp url that is working in VLC. Using the flash plugin demo in the SDK and changing the url accordingly, I am getting the following: 'The data area passed to a system call is too small;.

I've tried this on a 2012 development server and our 2008 live web server and get the same error. UMS is connecting to the DVR - if I change the password for the stream, the error changes to indicate the login is invalid.

Any help appreciated.

This looks like a bad RTSP implementation - your DVR provides invaild / non-RTSP-compliant data.

Curious. It opens fine in VLC and Quicktime.

Try to change the transport protocol to UDP and maybe disable A/V synch.

Thanks for the advice.

I have tried all combinations of AVSync, only retrieving video and the various protcols but there is no change on the flash player.

Your DVR returns invalid SPS/PPS NALu in the RTSP describe response.
Unlike VLC and other programs, we must have this describe response correct. Your DVR manufacturer needs to correct that issue.
