MP3 Encoding Restriction

Postby Muzolini » Sat Jul 24, 2010 10:01 am

Hello,
My first post. I have just installed the latest U M Server on Widows XP but I am having some problems when I go in the 'advanced' section of the Audio encoding option . I cannot choose my previous audio installation settings as the MP3 codec list now only goes as high as 56 KBPS at 2250 kHz instead of 90 KBPS at 44.1 KHz (my prefered last setting) and higher. I need to activate the the higher MP3 codecs and get them into my list as they are no longer listed in the new Windows installation- they have gone. I have updated Windows.

Any ideas here ?

The easiest would be to reinstall a Live Server; the installtion updates the registry to register professional MP3 codec
so you will have higher mp3 bitrates.

Correction - you need to install a Windows Media Player, version 10 or higher. (mp3 professional codec comes with it)
Then reinstall Live Server.

I have tried this before and updated windows player but I still have the same problem. Is there any other way that the codec list might be restricted in Windows ?

Thanks

In the registry, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
there is a value named "msacm.l3acm". Its data should be "l3codecp.acm".
