MMS & Windows Media Player 11

Postby mushinator » Fri Jan 08, 2010 2:56 am

Hi,

I'm having technical issues, I want to get MMS streaming going, and I seem to be having a codec issue. When I use MMS and stream the default "birds" movie, I can hear and see it in windows media player 11, however when I stream pretty much any "real" media Windows Media Player complains about codecs or not being able to find the file.

I know I can play ANY of the files if I use the streaming media player or even downloading the file onto the workstation and playing directly in Windows Media Player.

Any ideas or thoughts would be good please.

Thanks!

Try to play some wmv file locally, so Windows Media Player downloads wmv codec.

Hi,

Thanks for the follow up, yes, Windows media play plays the files fine if I download them onto the same computer as WMP. The only way I can't view the file is if I use MMS through WMP. In fact I took it further, I tried MMS on 3 windows XP computers with the same results. It does work great under windows 7 and WMP... which is interesting.

Thanks for your thoughts.
