[Bug] Pause and resume stream

Postby Jan-E » Sun Jan 03, 2010 8:29 am

I am running into a very annoying bug in your (otherwise excellent) media server.

To illustrate this:
1. Go to http://www.umediaserver.net/umediaserver/demos.html
2. Click on Windows Media Player: Broadband =
mms://streamn.com:5119/MediaRoot/UMedia/TechTVDSL.wmv
3. Let the video running in the Media Player for a while.
4. Pause the playing: Control-P or click on the button
5. Resume play: Control-P once again

It seems to resume correctly, however after about 6 seconds it starts all over again at the beginning of the video.

Is this a known bug? Do you have any plans to correct it?

We will try to fix this bug in the next version.
Thanks for reporting it.

@Admin: thanks for the answer. Should I think in months or years before you will release the next version? Can I speed up things in one way or the other? For instance by beta-testing a possible fix...

Unfortunately we can not fix that issue.
When you hit a pause button, WMP immediately closes connection to the server.
It plays for next 6 seconds from its buffer and sends a new request to the server to get the file from stream-time 0, i.e. from the beginning.
