SDP something!!!

Postby clefranc » Wed Mar 30, 2016 10:00 am

Hi,
I know nothing about streaming, downloaded the media server, put a folder with videos, start multicasting, then nothing. When I try to open rtp://225.0.0.1:5001, VLC ask for a SDP file.

What should I do to get a stream?

Thanks

Christian

Please read the FAQ before asking questions!

The multicasting that you have started can only be played by Unreal Streaming Media Player.

If you want to multicast to VLC, you need to multicast via MPEG2-TS protocol. You can do that by right-clicking on virtual folder -> Start MPEG2-TS,
choose the file and then specify multicast IPaddress:port. Also, for VLC (unlike set-top boxes) you need to check "UDP over RTP" checkbox.
