Media Server Usage Statistics

Postby tongmaster » Thu Nov 12, 2009 9:35 pm

I would like to measure usage of my Unreal Media Server and provide a useful report with detail about how often all the videos are being viewed. What are people using to measure and report on Unreal Media Server usage?

Many thanks.

Look in the LogFile folder in the Umediaserver folder. That gives you statistics of IP, time, users, and selection, etc.

Yes, but how do I convert that into a readable report with analysis, graphic representation, etc as I do now for web logs?

Cheers,

Sawmill log analyzer supports our log format
http://www.sawmill.net/

Besides, you can programmatically get current connections using AutoServerConfig COM component in SDK.

Thank you very much! I have tested Sawmill and it does the business quite well.

I am using anonymous access to the media and note that for a single viewing of a video there might be 2 or three "accesses". Is there a way to configure the system so that only a single access is logged? The server is on a Windows Active Directory and all users are members of the domain.

I very much appreciate the assistance with this!

For non-MMS connections, there are always TWO accesses per every user: LogIN and LogOut
For MMS connections, there is such pair for every seek request (if you are playing files)
