Hi I've installed v5 (media server and live server) after few weeks of running without any problem v4
I've found few problem:
- after client disconect (clip player) media server don't release connection (remain activ forever in client connection page)
- trying to seek clip on client side after few moment I've got "Media Server diconnect ..." with conection stil alive (like I said above)
- I can't use live blur plugin (where can I define in LiveServer config?)
So I change back to v4
regards,

Mark,
This may happen with both versions 4 and 5 if all the below conditions met:
1. You are streaming via HTTP.
2. Your Media Server runs on Windows 2003 Server OS.
3. You seek when file is actually finished streaming, and is about to finish playing (towards the end).
Please confirm that this is the case.

| I have an large library of both recorded content and live cameras... Everything is working Great. We have version 4 Live Servers still connecting to Version 5 Media Server with no problems. Audio is much better on the entire system. We utilize the PDA Version also and the audio is super.. Thank you guys, NO BUGS TO REPORT... |

Hi. Thanks for reply.
I used with no problem v4 (LiveServer with MediaServer on the same computer - WinXP; TCP streaming; No IIS at all, WinFast USBII tuner card)
I've de-instaled v4 and install v5 and I replace HTML code (including .cab, .js) in web page (from where client can choose live or recorded media).
From both Live and Media connection remain active after client disconnect.
Seek trouble come no mater where the clip are curently playing.
I've set again v4 - work lija a charm.
I'll try tomorow again with v5.
regards,

I dled the version 5. but I am afraid to install it right now, becuase I have so many virtual directories that I can't afford the time to recreate. will I have if I install version five or will it perform an upgrade and keep my current config?

Hey Mitch. I just installed it and you've got to start from scratch. It's only got the MediaRoot showing. Plus if you host the .cab and .xpi files on your site you'll need to get the new one since the Javascript file calls for the Umediacontrol5.cab and Umediaplayer5.xpi. But it's no big deal if you don't host those files. I like to host them because Umediaserver.net was down for a week last year, so no access to those files.
Haven't gotten it up and running yet. I came back to the forum to get Admin/s instructs for the javascript reference in the code. |

Admin left this for me in another post:
"All you need to do is save config.ums file located in the installation folder of Unreal Media Server. Copy this file somewhere. Then install v5. Then overwrite newly installed config.ums with your old one."
I'm still gonna wait a few weeks till things settle down here a bit. With video production and all going full throttle all day long I have no time to troubleshoot any potential bugs with a whole new system right now .. _________________ http://www.garageaction.com
