each time than i try to play a video i got this message :"no video decoder found..."
(the test.avi in mediaroot work)
if i'm playing it with streaming media player all my video works
so i install firefox and the xpi plug-in and then the web player is working pretty good

This is on the same Vista machine?
Can't be true. Streaming media player behaves the same as ActiveX control embedded in web page.
Can you confirm that the SAME file reports "no video decoder found" in IE, but works with FireFox and Streaming media player, all on this same machine?

OK, it's probably the Vista IE security issue.
If you run IE as Administrator, everything works OK?

It's not internet security - it's "IE 7.0 on Vista security".
Satsuki decoder pack installs decoder in the folder and references it in the registry area that IE does not have permission to access.
Moreover, they register their filter to be used by DirectShow by default, instead of any other DivX-compliant decoder you might already have installed. Thus, if their decoder fails, you'll not be able to play any DivX files even if another DivX decoder is installed.
The fact that you have problems with IE & ActiveX control means only one thing - Satsuki is not 100% compatible with Vista. |
