|
|
| Im having some difficulty streaming files that reside on servers other than my UMC server that are on my local LAN. In my UMC configurator I setup 2 virtual shares using TCP. Both shares are streaming the same file but the one that is configured to stream through the mapped drive does not work. I get Server Error File not found from the client. I tried to configure it using the netbios path instead of the drive mapped path and still have the same problem. Yet I can setup a new virtual folder fine and stream it if the file is located on the UMC server itself. Also the configurator indicates that it located the files just fine. I used to be able to do this fine with version 4. Any advice as to what I may be doing wrong is appreciated. Thanks. |

| You should understand Windows secirity model. When installed Media Server runs under SYSTEM account, which does not have access to network. Change Media Server service configuration to run under some other account (your interactive user account, for example) that has access to your mapped drive. |

I have the same error: "File not found on the server"
I tried changing the user which runs the UMediaServer service with:
- administrator of the local machine.
- user who access the shared folder.
Restarted the service.
But the message is still the same.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

I am having this issue with my XP SP2 UMS machine.
Even though I can browse/launch media files from within the UMS Configuration App on the UMS machine via the mapped "virtual folder', Unreal Streaming Player (even on the UMS machine) is unable to stream the contents that comes from the mapped drive.
I have also tried running the UMS 'Service' under the Administrator account, which has identical UN/PW credentials as the Administrator account on the XP machine whose drive is being shared. _________________ Scott |

If you meant the below quoted portion, then I need to look elsewhere for a solution, As I stated, I've tried running UMS service under the Administrator account, which is identical for both XP machines with the remote drive explicitly "shared" with the Administrator account with full access permissions.
| Quote: | | The security should be setup such that the account, under which UMediaServer runs, has access to this network drive. By default, UMediaServer runs under local system account. You will need to have an account that can access this network drive, and make UMediaServer service run under this account. Use "control panel - services - UMediaServer properties" to change the account. |

Did you get this to work? _________________ Scott |

Ahhh!
It works if the UMS virtual drive is linked via a \\Machine_Name\Share, but not a local drive letter mapped to the share. _________________ Scott |

Based upon the different instructions for Win2000 vs XP, is it safe to assume that using "mapped" drives for a Virtual Folder is not supported with XP? _________________ Scott |
