I am trying to push the stream from WMencoder to my UMserver
I am getting the titled error, which says:
"The Server service that received the HTTP push request is not a compatible
version of Windows Media Services (WMS). This error may indicate the push
request was received by IIS instead of WMS. Ensure WMS is started and has
the HTTP Server control protocol properly enabled and try again"
What do I need to do?
Thank you for help!!! |

Sorry, I don't have an answer. In fact when I read your post, my first quess was that you needed the full Windows Media Server, rather than the standalone Windows Media Encoder, for UMS to connect to and rebroadcast.
I'm glad that I decided to see for myself before I spoke too soon.
I created a quick WME encoding session with a WebCam, setup UMS to connect to the WME stream and voila. Connected to the Live alias of the WME stream. cool.
I'm not certain why I would want to do this, but it's certainly got me thinking. _________________ Scott |

I can't find link to download WMServer

Did you send WME stream on some port or remote server?
Where is your UMS located? on remote server.
Any way when I try to apply some stream from WME the error occurs I mentioned before.
How did you do this?
Thank you for any help! |

I tested everything (WME+UMS) on one machine, except that the client receiving the stream was on a different PC same LAN.
1. Create/Start WME stream. The default port is 8080, although this is customizable. mms://WME_Machine_IP:8080
2. Create WMS Live Source in Unreal Media Config that points to #1 address
3. Stream to a client using mms://UMS_Server_IP:Port/WME_Alias _________________ Scott |

So the question comes up...why would haribol want to use WME? Why not just live server if one wants to stream?
WME is a CPU hog, I can just imagine running both on the same PC. But it's pretty impressive you figured out how to do it Scott. |

There are times when I "must" use WME, such as real-time transcoding of high bit rate media files [cough, because UMS can't do it, cough], but I just connect directly to the WME stream. _________________ Scott |

Wow! Who in the world told you this is supposed to work?
It doesn't work of course.
You can only push WME streams to Windows Media Services which come with Windows 2003 server OS.

I tried on various way without access. Pleas help!
Could you kindly send me screenshot of WME port setup and two
screenshots of UMConfig: page 'server properties' and main page of
program.
Here is my temporary ftp:
Enter "My computer" (not any browser !!!) and in line 'Address' put:
ftp://s209255959.onlinehome.us and push enter.

Of course I had to try this, but I think I pulled instead of pushed. When I put in the alias of the WME it just showed what used to be my #1. Are you sure your old number one source webcam is not the same webcam you think you are seeing as the WME alias? That's what happened to me.
I got excited when I saw 'buffering', but there was my front door cam (formally #1, changed to #2). I was on the same PC with all of it, not on the lan with a diff PC client.
Also in step #2 you say create WMS Live Source (you mean't WME?).
I can't see how this would work. |
