| I am using umedia to host xvid movies so i can watch them when im on the road. The problem is that it buffers every 30 seconds or so even when im the only one connected. I have a core2duo with 1.5 gb memory, running 108mps Wireless G card and router and have 6mb down and 1 up on my internet connection. any ideas how to fix this? |

Well, 1mbps upload may not be enough for XVID file.
1mbps is just about 100 kByte/sec and your XVID filese are probably encoded with bigger bitrates.

I tested my net connection and this is what www.pcpitstop.com said my upload was...
1242 kilobits per second
does this change anything? |

What is the bitrate of your XVid file?
It is probably higher than 1242 kilobits per second, so you have buffering.
Re-encode it to WMV, you will get the same quality at 800 kbps.

I have created a site that has links to all my movies stored on my pc. I have also created you a login so you can see for yourself...
www.geocities.com/ship17survivor
login: umedia
pass: umedia
I have also tried converting using alive video converter and ultra video converter and the result was very blocky. can you recommend something else? |

Yes, your XVid files are too fat - about 1500 kbps.
Use Windows Media Encoder to convert to WMV.

Another very good versatile converter is called Super. It converts almost anything (including .flv) to nearly anything else with many options for aspect ratio, video and audio bitrates etc.. My upload is only 380 and even a few WMV files buffer for me.
