|
|
| Has anyone else had a problem watching streamed files on Vista? Neither the ActiveX control nor the full program work. I get a black area where the video should be and full audio. I'm assuming this is due to Vista's new display driver settings or something. Any help? |

I would rather say - bad decoder;
What content are you playing?
Does the same file play OK on XP/2000?

The same files work just fine under XP. They're standard XVID files. If I download the same files from the server via FTP, I can play them in VLC or WMP just fine.
I even tried installing the full UMedia streaming program, but to no avail. |

What Vista flavor is it - Ultimate, Home, Business?
Is it x64 or x86 version?
What is your graphics card?
What is graphics card driver version?
Does the problem exist when Vista Aero is turned off? |

It's Vista Business, I have Aero enabled, I never thought about that. I'll try disabling it when I return to that computer on Sunday.
The graphics card is a Biostar running the Nvidia GeForce 6200LE chip, its the latest driver, 7.15.10.9746. |

OK, well, turning of Aero didn't help at all. Again, if I download the file that I'm trying to stream, I can watch it fine with VLC and WMP, so I know I have the proper codecs.
Has anyone successfully used umedia with Vista? I'm thinking it has to do with the way Vista handles video playback, with the new changes for HDCP. |

| Yes, for example it plays fine on Vista with Aero enabled with ATI Radeon 9600, X600 and X800 cards. |
